Vancouver & Alaska Disney Cruise – Day 2: Butchart Gardens, Steveston, and Richmond Night Market

🌅 Morning: Ferry Ride to Butchart Gardens

Our second day in Vancouver began bright and early with a scenic drive to Tsawwassen Quay Market, where we grabbed some light snacks before boarding the BC Ferry. The ferry ride itself was a highlight with calm waters, mountain views, and plenty of space to walk around and take photos from the deck.

🌸 Exploring Butchart Gardens

Arriving on Vancouver Island, we made our way to one of British Columbia’s most famous attractions: Butchart Gardens. Spread across 55 acres, the gardens are a masterpiece of color and design, with themed sections that make every turn feel like a new discovery.

We spent a good part of the day strolling through the gardens, visiting the Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, and Japanese Garden. Each one offered a unique atmosphere, from vibrant floral displays to tranquil walkways shaded by maple trees.

The kids especially loved riding the carousel, and we couldn’t resist a quick ice cream break before heading back.

Butchart Gardens is as family-friendly as it is beautiful, with well-maintained paths and plenty of open areas to relax or take photos.

Afternoon: Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston

After taking the BC Ferry back, we stopped at Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston, a charming waterfront village known for its seafood and laid-back atmosphere.

We strolled along the docks lined with fishing boats and small shops selling fresh seafood and souvenirs.

This spot is a great place to grab a casual bite and watch the sunset. Locals and travelers alike gather here for fish and chips or gelato while enjoying the views of the harbor.

🌙 Evening: Richmond Night Market

To end the night, we headed to the Richmond Night Market, one of Vancouver’s must-visit attractions. The energy was electric with colorful lights, music, and the aroma of street food filling the air.

From bubble waffles and takoyaki to creative drinks and souvenirs, there’s something for everyone. It’s a perfect stop for families, couples, or anyone wanting a fun and memorable end to the day.

Pro tip: arrive early to avoid long lines, and bring cash, as not every vendor accepts cards.

💡 Tips for Travelers
