Vancouver & Alaska Disney Cruise — Day 7: Glacier Day

🏔️ Sailing Into the Fjord

The day started early as the ship glided quietly into Endicott Arm, a narrow, icy fjord surrounded by towering cliffs and snow-covered peaks. The morning light made the water shimmer a deep glacial blue, and pockets of floating ice drifted past our verandah.

🧊 Stikine Icecap & Glacier Viewing

Reaching the end of the fjord, the ship offered incredible views of the Stikine Icecap and Dawes Glacier. It felt like entering a frozen cathedral with steep granite walls rising on both sides, carved over thousands of years, leading to a massive wall of brilliant blue ice.

Along the way we spotted wildlife:

  • Whales surfacing in the distance

  • Seals lounging lazily on floating ice

  • Seabirds circling low over the water

The air was crisp, the scenery unreal, and everyone on deck was quietly soaking it in — until a big chunk of ice cracked loudly in the distance, and the entire crowd gasped at once.

A small excursion vessel passed near the glacier, looking tiny compared to the enormous cliffs. It really showed just how huge the landscape is out here.

The boys were instantly energized by the scenery, running around the deck, posing for pictures, making silly faces, and dragging the grandparents into the fun. With the massive mountains behind them and cold air swirling around, they were in full Alaska adventure mode.

❄️🎉 Freezing the Night Away — Deck Party

In the evening, the ship transformed from serene glacier viewing to full Disney fun with the Freezing the Night Away celebration.

The top deck filled with families as music from Frozen echoed across the ship. Then the characters appeared: Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf. All dancing, singing, and leading games with the kids. Snow machines blew flurries into the air, which the boys tried to catch on their tongues.

After a cold morning outside, this themed party felt perfectly on-brand for Glacier Day.

🎨 Casual Dinner at Animator’s Palate

Dinner tonight was at Animator’s Palate, a favorite for the kids thanks to the interactive atmosphere and the servers’ playful energy.

The boys were wired from the Frozen party and still riding the high of the glacier views. Our server matched their excitement perfectly doing magic tricks, drawing characters on napkins, and keeping them laughing all dinner long.

The food was great, but the entertainment and the energy made it a standout night. When we returned to the room, the boys were thrilled to find another towel animal waiting for them, along with chocolates. A perfect end to a full day.

🌟 Tips for Travelers

  • Wake up early for glacier day — the approach through Endicott Arm is just as beautiful as the glacier itself.

  • Dress in layers for time out on deck; the wind can be surprisingly cold.

  • Bring binoculars if you want to spot seals or whales.

  • Arrive to the Frozen deck party a bit early for a good spot near the center rails.

  • Animator’s Palate is perfect with kids — request early dining if you want them at their happiest.

🔮 Looking Ahead

Day 8 brings a slower pace and a chance to enjoy the ship one last time before the end of the voyage. We plan to make the most of the final stretch of Disney magic at sea.
