Vancouver & Alaska Disney Cruise – Day 5: Boarding the Disney Wonder and Sail Away Party

🏙️ Morning at Canada Place

After several unforgettable days exploring Vancouver, it was finally time for one of the highlights of our trip, boarding the Disney Wonder for our Alaska cruise! The excitement was high as we made our way to Canada Place, where the ship was docked. We walked around the waterfront, taking in views of the Disney Wonder from the outside. Seeing the ship up close built anticipation for the days ahead.

⚓ Boarding the Disney Wonder

We checked in at the cruise terminal and officially stepped onboard! The crew greeted us with friendly waves and music in the grand atrium, which was the perfect start to our Disney adventure.

After boarding, we grabbed a quick snack and explored the ship’s decks.

🏊‍♂️ Pool Time Fun

We had heard that the first day is often the best day to use the pool since it’s typically the warmest day of the cruise and that proved true! The kids made a beeline for the pool and had a blast splashing around while the ship was still in port. It was a relaxed and cheerful start to our cruise life.

🎉 Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party

After some pool time, we dried off and headed up to the top deck to join Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party, a fun-filled sendoff with music, dancing, and Disney characters waving goodbye as the ship departed Vancouver. The energy and excitement were contagious as Mickey, Minnie, and all the other characters danced during the Sale-A-Wave Party.

🍽️ Dinner at Triton’s

After the party, we headed to Triton’s, one of the ship’s main dining rooms inspired by The Little Mermaid. Dinner was delicious and elegantly presented.

The highlight of the evening, however, came after we returned to our stateroom and there was a towel animal waiting on the bed! The kids were thrilled to discover a new one each night and the bunk beds quickly became a favorite feature of our cabin.

💡 Tips for Travelers

  • Arrive early at Canada Place if you want time to enjoy the view of the ship and take photos before check-in.

  • Pack swimsuits in your carry-on so you can hit the pool right after boarding.

  • Don’t miss the Sail-A-Wave Party — it’s the perfect way to kick off the cruise and get into the Disney spirit.

  • Dinner attire: Triton’s is smart casual, but many guests come straight from daytime activities, so no need to overdress.
